Welcome to YorkFire.Net
If you have been here before, you'll likely have noticed that the web site design and content has changed.
The focus of the site has been adjusted to focus more on the history of organized fire protection in York, Pennsylvania, and less on the current operations of the various fire companies and fire departments of York County. We will continue, of course, to highlight current activities of interest, as the news of today is the history of tomorrow.
Please bear with us as we continue to develop and flesh out the content of the web site.
A books page
Since I have published my first book, and am conducting research for my second book, I decided it was time to create a books page.
The books page will provide some background on the books published in the past about the York Fire Department. It will also serve as my author's page for the books that I have written and published or those that will be will published in the future.
This new content will be found under the Books tab at the top of each page.
A bit more content
Little by little, I am continuing to add more content to this site.
For the first time, content from an outside source has been added to the site. My friend, Randy Keeney, has supplied some history on the beginnings of organized fire protection in the village of New Paradise, later to become the borough of Jacobus.
This new content will be found under the articles heading on the left side of each page.
I encourage others that are interested in submitting content for the web site to do so. You just need to write it up and supply the text and photos. I can do the 'magic' to turn that content into a web page!
Working on adding new content
So, with the COVID-19 pandemic giving me a bit more time in front of the computer, I decided to get to work on adding some more content to this site.
I'll be adding some new items that I am working on specifically for the site, and I'll be taking some projects that I have worked on in the past and placing them on the site so they can be seen again. Research is nothing if you are not able to share it, so I'm going to try to share a bit more on here.
This new contant will be found under the articles heading on the left side of each page.
